Chapter 3746 The Deadline for the Final Act

After the fateful impact ended around 4 PM, just like last time, the artifacts rioted and countless snakes appeared frequently. Last time, it only affected Fatummonster Island, but this time the incident spread to the entire Falling Star Bay area.

The great witches went to deal with the problems in various places according to plan, while Bella and Vanessa led people to the city to ascertain the current situation from the church.

Shad stayed on the ship, but Sylvia soon received an urgent message from Bella to go to the city to help. However, the black-haired Space Witch returned ten minutes later.

"Shad, you need to come over, something big has happened."

She led Shad to the east side of the city, where there were a few farmlands on the island, the most important food-producing area on Fatummünster Island.

After being brought here by Sylvia through the portal, Shad immediately sensed signs of a large-scale ritual from afar:

"Illusion rituals and spatial barrier rituals?"

"This way."

The snow was still falling, and the church's troops had sealed off the area. The winter fields stretched as far as the eye could see, but the distant world appeared hazy due to the ceremonial shroud.

Vanessa and Bella were waiting for them there. The three great witches, along with Shad, headed towards the depths of the farmland, led by Miss Ingram, the Nightmare Witch of the Church of Nature.

Knowing that this woman was friends with Sister Daphne, Shad originally intended to tell her that the nun wouldn't be appearing recently, but instead, it was the woman with the green leaf earring who asked:

"Summoner, during the Battle of Moon Bay last summer, you used a peculiar illusion lock, within which was a world of endless yellow sand; during the Battle of Vista Grove last winter, you also used a unique Ascension Word to summon a very powerful lady, who also emerged from the endless yellow sand, right?"

Shad nodded and, led by Miss Ingram, proceeded along a specific route through the white farmland. The spatial distortion created by the ritual's power meant that the seemingly open area actually contained only a specific path forward, and Shad found it hard to imagine what the church was using this ritual to obstruct.

However, this snow-covered farmland reminded him of the wilderness that often appeared in his dreams:

"Yes, I have used those kinds of enchanting and transcendental words, so what?"

Shad raised an eyebrow and gazed again at the distorted, blurry space in the distance:

"Miss Ingram, you're not suggesting that scene actually happened in the real world, are you?"

Miss Ingram nodded slightly, and while Shad was still in shock, Bella whispered:

"Mr. Serpent is the destiny of the end of the first era. Before that, the power it displayed was all related to destiny. But now it is gradually breaking free from the shackles of the ancient gods, so the end of the world has come."

However, the actual situation was not as dire as the "doomsday" had become. After passing through the illusion and spatial barriers, Miss Ingram led Shad and the witches to the edge of the accident site.

Besides them, each of the five churches sent a thirteen-ring warlock to the scene: the Church of Dawn sent "Radiant Ones," the Church of the Sun sent Miss Eden, "Sun Emblem," the Church of Creation sent Mr. Chris Evans, "Master of Illusions," and the Church of Peace sent Mr. Minsk Toddlers, "White Dove Messenger."

Iluna was there too, the eighteen-year-old girl casting a spell while holding a dark golden scale. She nodded to Shad and then continued to look worriedly at what lay before her. Yellow sand swept in, and the silvery-white farmland beneath her feet was no longer there.

A small patch of snow had been cleared away, revealing severely desertified land beneath. The sky ahead, though nearing dusk, was cloudless, a tapestry of yellow and the red of the setting sun.

The scene before them was indeed that of dusk, but this dusk seemed to be the dusk of the world. Shad's evidence that this was not a true "doomsday" was that there was no black sun in the sky; the normal sun, though tinged yellow, was indeed setting.

The sun also behaved differently; it was located far in front of everyone on the horizon, and the sunset scene looked as unnatural as an oil painting called "twilight."

"Time has been frozen in this space, maintaining the twilight scenery since it was discovered. It is slowly expanding outwards, but fortunately Miss Beas's power can temporarily stabilize it."

Miss Eden explained.

The "twilight world" before them had a clear boundary with the normal world, and the barrier constructed by the dark golden scales in Iluna's hand blocked the invasion of the yellow sand.

Shad then wanted to go inside to investigate, but Miss Eden, who was already somewhat acquainted with Shad, stopped him immediately:

“Caller of Gods, do not enter there lightly. I just ventured in after fully activating my bloodline power. Although I did not suffer any physical or mental harm, the feeling was countless times more unbearable than facing the impact of fate.”

"It's okay, my resistance is quite high."

After Bella and the others whispered a reminder to Xia De to be careful, Xia De walked forward.

Those on the edge of "twilight" watched as Shad walked forward through the mixture of snow and gravel in that twilight world where the sun was setting. He walked slowly but steadily, and seemed truly unaffected.

But Shad soon stopped, because in front of the yellow sun that was half-sunken on the horizon, a figure appeared from the twisting light.

A man with snake-like eyes and no nose stood with his hands behind his back on the ridge of the field. Shad looked at it, and it looked at Shad. The afterglow of the setting sun outlined the snake's body. Finally, it was the snake that spoke first:

"Caller of Gods, is the scene before you the same as the apocalyptic world in your dreams?"

The twisting of the sunlight caused its shadow to twist as well. The colors of the sunset at this moment could even be described as "devastating," but the light of the sunset had no warmth whatsoever.

Shad reached out to try and grab the surrounding sand and dust, but he shook his head firmly.

Similar, but not exactly the same.

"Yes, my power has not been fully unleashed, so this is the most I can do."

The snake said to Shad:

"As more of my power is unleashed, this landscape will permeate the material world more. This is not the real apocalypse; it is merely a dream I have had for so many years while I was sealed at the foot of the snow-capped mountains, a scene that should have appeared at the end of the First Era."

The ancient gods may have delayed the arrival of this spectacle, but you see, they were merely postponing the matter until the very end. All things must perish; no one can escape it.

"The snake's doomsday dream?"

"You could say that. If I am the victor in the story of fate, the whole world will slide into a true apocalypse in my dreams, which is the ending I long for. The fragmented dreamscape has now appeared, a sign of the end times. The last scenery before sunset is beautiful, isn't it?"

The sunlight, falling below the horizon, illuminated Shad's face. People at the edge of the area looked at Shad at this moment. Everyone knew that he was a user of the moon's power, but he was so in harmony with the sun at this moment.

Shad asked the snake that was facing away from the sun:

"Why are you telling me all this?"

“You once shared your dream with me, so I want to share mine with you. After all, in this day and age, not many people can understand me.”

It paused for a moment:

"Although I can only leave the temple for a limited time at the moment, I am free to walk through these twilight scenes. Mortals fear this world, fear me, but I know you will not be afraid."

Before the final battle, if you would like to talk to me again, you can always step into this sunset; I am always ready to communicate with you.

Of course, there's also a reason why I'm appearing before you this time—to announce the end of the story ahead of time.

I'm giving you a deadline. If you haven't completed the seventh act of your story before the entire island slips into my dream, this drama of fate will come to an abrupt end. The deadline is the end of next week, and the closer it gets to the end, the larger the area my twilight dream will cover.

This isn't just limited to Fatumunst Island, but the entire world. This erosion is irreversible; even if you ultimately triumph, this landscape won't disappear. So, if you want to save the world, come to me as soon as possible.”

"A week? Is this also a rule set by Mr. Huan?"

When Shad asked, the noseless snake neither nodded nor shook its head:

"No drama can continue indefinitely, not even this one. The angel of doomsday has appeared, and though it has not sounded its trumpet, the bells of doomsday have already tolled. I look forward to the final performance, and those mortals who have tried to vie for the lead role will surely come before me in the end."

But I know, Summoner of Gods, my ultimate opponent will be you. You and I both know what the true end times are, and only you are worthy to face me.

It nodded to Shad, its figure gradually disappearing into the yellow sunlight. Shad gazed at the half-set sun, wondering if the final battle would take place in such a place.

He asked in his mind:

"Is there any way to banish this place? Since this is the snake's dream, perhaps we can start with the power of dreams."

[Unavoidable. Fate doesn't dream; this is actually the end of the First Age that never came to pass. Suppressed destiny is about to be unleashed, and thus the future that has not yet arrived is also brought into this era. This is not a misalignment of time and space, but rather the overlapping of fate lines.]

She whispered in Shad's ear, and Shad felt a tickle in his ear.

"Cannot be expelled. Even if this is not the true apocalypse, even a thirteenth-ring warlock cannot maintain normalcy here."

She smiled gently, and no matter how urgent the situation faced by outsiders, such laughter could always calm their minds.

[Possessing any Ring of Fate allows one to briefly walk and fight within this environment. It's not that fate has resisted the apocalypse, but rather that fate has resisted the serpent that caused this phenomenon.]
