Chapter 668: This Isn’t...
Chapter 668: This Isn’t...
"So...," Spoke up Jaden.
"Yeah, that was, uh...," Chimed in Aria.
"Really fucking anticlimactic," I nodded in response.
"I know, right? I kept expecting something to go wrong, but it all worked out perfectly according to plan. It feels kinda weird," Remarked Cleo in bemusement.
"I don’t see why that’s something to complain about. But I guess I do see where you’re coming from. Still, I got to set off a real good, satisfying explosion, so yeah," Grinned Ciel, a content look on her face.
A couple of days have passed since our attack in the Capital of Lynocyes. Once we eliminated the Knights and Nobles in the city, Zelmira and Revolt took control of the Capital.
The Demon army then moved in and helped hunt down the rest of the corrupt Knights and Nobility in the nation, along with the church. Once the bloodshed was done, Revolt got things to settle down in the nation remarkably quickly.
This morning, an alliance between Lynocyes and Vruxtrus was settled, the war that had been raging on the continent of Nilren finally brought to a close after decades.
It was currently the middle of the afternoon, and I was chilling with the others in a room in the Vruxtrus castle. After all the intense battles we endured on Earth against the Monsters, this was such a walk in the park that it’s actually kinda unsettling.
I just can’t seem to shake the feeling that something else is going to pop up and take us by surprise. As it turned out, only a very small handful of Knights were actually competent, even by this world’s standards.
The majority were little more than fodder, none of us had the least bit trouble wiping out the Knights we fought. By the end, all five of us were completely unscathed, not so much as a single scratch on any of us.
"I guess we lucked out in that this world scales a lot lower than the levels we’ve reached, huh? We probably could’ve pulled this off just as easily after we were first summoned, Spirit Fusion turned out to be kinda overkill," Remarked Jaden with a wry smile.
"Yeah, but maybe it’ll come in handy sometime later down the line," Suggested Cleo thoughtfully.
"Mhm, it certainly can’t hurt to have more options in our arsenals," Responded Aria, before adding, "By the way, how much longer is this going to take?"
"It should be any minute now," I replied, as I glanced at the time.
We’re finally going to return to our world. We’ve been in this world long enough, and while we certainly have gained a lot since coming here, it’s high time we leave.
Between Spirit Fusion and reuniting with my mother, getting summoned to this world has actually worked out pretty well for us. I can’t wait to get back, even though it really hasn’t been that long since we were summoned to this world.
Not counting the time we spent in the Pocket Dimension, we’ve been in this world for only around two weeks or so. It’s felt like ages though, none of us are particularly keen on staying her any longer.
We’re set to head back shortly, we already said our goodbyes to Zelmira and her friends, as well as the Demon Generals, and now we’re just waiting on-...
"Hey, everyone, hope I haven’t kept you waiting too long," Came mom’s voice, as the door opened and she stepped inside with a smile, holding a large, rolled-up scroll.
"No, you’re right on time. Did you get through everything you wanted to do?" I asked her.
"Yes, I just finished saying my goodbyes, I’m ready," She nodded in response.
As we talked about before, she’ll be coming with us to Earth, leaving the Generals in charge of Vruxtrus and maintaining the alliance with Lynocyes.
I’m pretty excited about this, it’ll be great to have her in my life again.
We all got up and gathered around as mom rolled out the large scroll and laid it down on the floor, before getting back up and stretching her arms out.
"Alright, the way this works is simple. First, run some Mana into the scroll, and once it starts glowing, the five of you need to link up and form a circle around the scroll. And then, a few seconds later, you’ll be back on Earth," She explained, as I opened a portal into the Pocket Dimension.
"Got it. Alright, get in, mom. I’ve turned up the time dilation, so by the time I let you out, no more than a couple of seconds or so will have passed on your end," I remarked, as she nodded and approached the portal.
"Okay, then I’ll see you again in a couple of seconds or so," She smiled, giving me a pat on the head as she stepped into the portal.
I shut the portal as she entered the Pocket Dimension, before exchanging brief glances with the others, the five of us circling the scroll. I knelt down and placed my hand on the scroll, running some Mana through it.
"This is it, we’re finally going home! Heh, I bet the HUC is totally freaking out over our disappearance," Grinned Jaden, an excited gleam in his eyes as the scroll began glowing, the five of us linking up.
"Yeah, I just hope we don’t have to attend a press conference or something, I really hate those things," Sighed Aria warily.
"Let’s just submit reports, plus maybe some social media posts and leave it at that, that should be more than enough," Chimed in Cleo.
"Rex says even that much is too much effort," Added Ciel with a wry smile.
"I think it’s about to happen, guys...this is it!" I responded, the glow of the scroll growing intensely, blindingly bright, everything going white.
A strange, trippy sensation washed over me, scrambling my senses and making me feel like I was floating through a stream of energy or something, my body felt fluid and formless. It’s hard to put into words, I’ve never experienced anything quite like th-...hm?
Suddenly, the strange sensation disappeared, my senses returning as I steadily began to feel normal again. Huh?
Wait, what...what is this? Something wrong here, this...this isn’t...
