As they were charging forward, the figures became more and more clear.

It didn’t take long for people to recognize just who these figures were.

Only when they saw them, they couldn’t help being shocked.

These figures were the ones that they had only seen in history books before, they had never seen the real people behind those images.

It was only now that they were able to see them in person, though for some it was hard to look at them with the glow that came from these figures.

"The gods have descended."

The more religious ones among them immediately started praying even though they were in the middle of a battle.

But that didn’t matter as the figures of light went to face the arms from the mass of black ooze.

The moment that they made contact, the black ooze started to fade away.

It seemed like the black ooze wasn’t even able to last a single second under the power of these glowing figures.

Once the arms had been melted away, the black ooze itself recognized the threat that these glowing figures posed. Which was why the parts of the arms that were still left were suddenly pulled away.

Even if it used the black ooze to attack, the fact of the matter was that this black ooze was a precious resource.

The attack just now had destroyed those arms made of the black ooze completely. Any black ooze that was destroyed like that certainly wouldn’t be recovered.

Or at least there was no way of recovering it in this situation.

Which was why the Heart of Destruction had to preserve as much of the black ooze as possible. It couldn’t let itself be stopped in a place like this.

For now, the losses from the arms itself were manageable, but it couldn’t keep going like this.

Which was why the Heart of Destruction chose to use a different method.

"Can you save your followers?"

As soon as the Heart of Destruction said this, there were spikes of black ooze that shot out from its body. It was aimed at all of the humans that were also here in this underground cave with them.

Even if there were quite a few glowing figures, it wasn’t as if they completely covered everyone. Which was why the Heart of Destruction thought that it would be able to distract them while it looked for a way to escape.

It was just that the Heart of Destruction had looked down on these gods.

It didn’t take all of them to deal with the Heart of Destruction, it didn’t even take half of them.

All it took was a wave of their hands to create a barrier that completely surrounded the Heart of Destruction. This barrier formed a dome around the Heart of Destruction that seemed to cut it off from the rest of the world.

It wasn’t a barrier that was there to protect the people around the battle, it was a barrier that created a cage for the Heart of Destruction.

None of the spears of black ooze that it shot out was able to reach anyone as all of them hit the barrier. Once they hit the barrier, the only thing that happened was that they disappeared without a trace.

They just couldn’t face the power that was contained inside of the barrier as they shattered apart.

As for the gods that hadn’t made a move yet, they went to surround the Heart of Destruction before raising their hands as if they were going to make a move.

Seeing this, the Heart of Destruction knew that it was in a bad position, so it started attacking them instead. Since it couldn’t do anything to the humans around it, it really had no choice but to target the gods.

But no matter how it tried, it just wasn’t able to break through the defenses of the gods.

All of them effortlessly raised barriers that blocked the attacks with one hand while they gathered their energy to attack with the other hand.

They just weren’t holding back at all.

Seeing this, the Heart of Destruction chose to sacrifice the flesh to save the bone.

All of a sudden, the mass of black ooze started to swell up. But at the same time, it continued shooting out the same spears of black ooze to keep the gods occupied.

Once it reached a certain point, there was this loud explosion that rang out.

From the way that the black ooze exploded, it really seemed like it was self-destructing to bring all of the gods down with it. Only that didn’t do anything to the gods even though this self destruction should have been stronger than any of the attacks.

Since it was in all directions, the force wasn’t as strong as it could have been if the Heart of Destruction really was going all out.

There was a part of the Heart of Destruction that hadn’t been blown up with the rest of the black ooze. This was a small part that tried to escape into the ground after blowing the rest of its body up as a distraction.

The problem with this was...

"Why is there another barrier in the ground?"

The dome that had been created was very comprehensive.

That meant that even under the ground, there was this layer of light that stopped the Heart of Destruction from escaping.

With the Black Tide’s ability to hide in the ground, it had wanted to drill away and find a place to lay low until it could recover. But it seemed like the gods had already planned everything.

The gods weren’t going to let this Heart of Destruction escape today.

It didn’t take long for the Heart of Destruction to be dug out of the ground and lifted up in front of everyone.

There wasn’t a single expression that had a trace of mercy in it since all of them had suffered at the hands of the Black Tide.

They wanted to end it here and now.
