Chapter 1002 - 1000: Discussion (Part 2)
"Ah, being a Scholar is also a great profession..." Igor then picked up the topic. For him, discussing which profession is greater or smaller no longer held significance. After all, he only wanted to be an Adventurer, and he wasn’t inclined to comment much on other professions.
Strangely enough, the two had initially been discussing Igor’s concealment, but somehow they had wandered off to talking about Adventurers with Class...
"Every profession is remarkable, it’s just a matter of choice. I wish I could be like you, able to be both an Adventurer and a Hunter," said Stim.
"Hunter? What Hunter?" Igor was puzzled. He was pleased to be called an Adventurer, but being called a Hunter left him scratching his head, unsure of what part of him seemed like a Hunter.
"The way you concealed yourself earlier, isn’t that a Hunter’s skill? That’s not just Stealth Ability, is it? Typically, an Adventurer with Class can only master one way to control Spirit Power, but clearly you’ve mastered more than one way!" said Stim. As an apprentice Scholar, he could discern such things with his Numerical Sensing Skill.
"Is that so?" Igor felt bewildered.
"Yes, in fact, as an apprentice Scholar, what I know is mostly from books and I’m not really clear about it." Stim didn’t dare to conclude too hastily; after all, he had once believed that people frozen would take a long time to recover, yet Igor was lively and energetic right before him.
Upon hearing this, Igor suddenly felt enlightened. He had experienced many discussions about Spirit Power on Guru Mountain in the Border Realm, and he felt that some once immutable things were starting to waver.
Some beliefs that scholars once held as truths were no longer in their original forms; they were gradually changing. If mentioned now, these changes would surely be sensational.
"Actually, I think many things might be wrong fundamentally," Igor murmured. He was not a Scholar and couldn’t entirely and methodically describe each of his experiences, only express his feelings.
"I always feel that right or wrong isn’t that important; what’s important is how one chooses. I chose to be a Scholar. I have no complaints, even though my father always hoped I would become an Adventurer, but I still feel that being a Scholar can also help my father."
Stim’s words resonated with Igor, seeming familiar as if he had heard similar words recently but couldn’t quite remember where.
"Actually, I don’t value being an Adventurer as much anymore," Igor reflected. He felt inner peace, having met two Sol during his journey, neither of whom were Adventurers with Class, yet their actions were no less significant.
There was also Perkins, not an Adventurer with Class either, yet his deeds were indistinguishable from those of an Adventurer.
These encounters gradually made Igor realize that a lot of things weren’t as people said.
"I think many things aren’t like they are in books. We don’t need to be entangled in right or wrong, just be true to ourselves!"
"Be true to oneself..." Stim was deeply touched, moved by these words.
"Earlier, I went to a place where a person forgot about themselves, ending up in perpetual solitude." Igor remembered the Soul Devourer Master in the Border Realm, finding the experience profoundly impactful.
"Forgot themselves?" Stim found it bewildering that one could forget oneself.
"Yes, like with you, if you didn’t follow your own wishes and succumbed to your father’s desires, unhappily becoming an Adventurer, wouldn’t you feel very lonely?" Igor asked, feeling that this analogy was quite apt.
Stim squinted, pondered for a while, and acknowledged that Igor’s words made sense. If he really succumbed to his father’s wishes unwillingly and became an Adventurer, he would certainly be in misery.
"So, profession doesn’t matter, neither does right or wrong. Persist in being yourself, and stay true to your original intentions," Igor mused, thinking of the Soul Devourer Master and Wizard Reed on Guru Mountain, leading him to deep reflection.
He considered many things. Right and wrong seemed ethereal indeed.
Good and evil are within a fleeting thought, yet do wrongdoers not feel justified in their actions?
What makes a person undergo such changes, abandoning their former self, becoming someone entirely contrary to their wishes...
This question might continue to trouble Igor.
"To be honest, seeing you on that Ice Bed all those days, I thought you were a monster." Stim laughed, breaking Igor’s reverie. Conversations with Igor felt easy, clearing previous confusions from his heart.
"Um... By the way, I’ve been wondering how I ended up on that Ice Bed! And how long was I unconscious?"
"You were unconscious for about a week, but as for why you were on the Ice Bed, I have no idea either..." Stim replied.
"Oh, it’s really a question that’s been bothering me."
"You could ask Dean Hoffman; he would definitely know. I was following his instructions to care for you," Stim said, feeling relieved after chatting with Igor, with his earlier feelings of confusion gone.
"Dean Hoffman..." Igor suddenly realized he had a lot to ask.
"How about I take you with me, I’m also looking for Dean Hoffman."
"Why do you want to see him?" Igor asked.
"He promised me the opportunity to access the Spirit Book, so I want to ask him how to properly open a Spirit Book."
"Spirit Book?" Igor scratched his head, "You don’t need to find Dean Hoffman, I have a Spirit Book right here!"
"You have one?" Stim couldn’t believe it, shocked that he could so quickly get access to a Spirit Book.
"Look, here it is." Igor finished speaking and took out the Spirit Book from his body.
"Hey, hey! What kind of nerve did you touch now!" The Spirit Book, uncomfortable from being grabbed by Igor, immediately began to complain. Gone was its previously obedient demeanor.
The last time the Spirit Book made an appearance was during the encounter with Perkins...
When Igor took out the Spirit Book, Stim’s eyes widened in astonishment. That Igor could open a Spirit Book completely; it was truly astounding.
