Chapter 168: What Means To Be The Strongest
Chapter 168: What Means To Be The Strongest
Silk sat on the chair on the farm with a blank look on his face.
He had given everything he had in that last attack, but he lost, miserably.
It was his first time going out of the house. At home, he had been praised as a once-in-a-century genius, unmatched by all and someone who never lost a fight against his peers.
But as soon as he got out, he landed in Archon Academy, a place filled with monsters like him. Everyone there was almost as strong as him, if not more, giving him an unprecedented sense of pressure.
But he could accept that. The Archon Academy was a gathering of the strong. It accepts the most brilliant 100 people every year from billions of them. Any single person who got admitted there was an unmatched prodigy who never lost a fight similar to him.
They all almost came from similar backgrounds as he did, the True Capital. Hell, he even knew half of them from childhood, so he could barely accept it.
But when he met Morgana, he finally thought she was the most brilliant genius who came from a small family outside. She captured his heart at once and then did it again when she beat him in a fight.
He consoled himself by thinking he was one of a kind, a genius in the world, the most brilliant one. He could accept people from the Archon Academy fighting him to an equal.
But how did a farmer boy in the middle of nowhere, with access to no resources at all, beat him up so badly?
Was he really a genius? Was his family lying to him all along? Was he worse than a random peasant from outside?
He fell into an existential crisis, not even noticing when a woman appeared behind him before bonking him on the head.
"Oww!! Who dares...Aunt?!!" He turned around in anger, only to find a familiar silhouette standing in front of him. It was the figure from his nightmares.
"Have you moped around enough?? Is that all you amount to, little Silk? Are you just going to give up after losing a small, teeny, tiny fight? Is that how I raised you? Pathetic."
Yuna sneered at him, and she didn’t conceal the disdain in her eyes.
"Aunt!! Where did you go for the past few years?!! And no, I am not going to give up. It’s just that..." Silk became dejected once again as he thought about his recent fight.
Yuna didn’t say anything. She just sat down in the chair in front of him.
"If that is the extent of your resolve, you’d better withdraw from Archon Academy right now. You are not fit to carry the glory of your family. I’ll call my brother right now and have him take you back to the ancestral home. There you can stay under our family’s lapdogs’ watch and live under the flattery. There, you will be called the strongest. Is that what you want?"
"NO!! Aunt...I..." Silk did not know what to say. If he was a once-in-a-century genius, his aunt was a once-in-a-millennium genius. She had been his role model ever since he was little. Always so strong, always fighting the world by herself, always carrying everything alone.
But one day, she just suddenly vanished. Now she suddenly appeared in front of him, and even more, she saw him lose so pathetically against a peasant. He felt even more dejected when he thought about that.
Seeing his face, Yuna didn’t continue to berate him but changed her tone.
"Tell me, little Silk... Do you think I am strong or I am a genius??"
"Of course!! You are the biggest genius and strongest person I know!!" Silk replied instantly.
"Well, would you be shocked to know that I was not the strongest person in the Academy? Hell, I wasn’t even the strongest in my class. I even suffered a lot of defeats. After I graduated, I committed one of the biggest blunders that claimed the lives of many people, and that led to my exile. I still haven’t grown stronger at all in the past few years. Even after all that, do you still think I am the strongest??" Yuna let out a self-deprecating smile as she talked.
Silk fell into shock after he heard her speak. He couldn’t equate the sad and forlorn person in front of him with the strong image he had of his aunt in his heart.
"No way!! That...you are still the strongest person in my eyes!!!" Silk replied after a bit of thinking.
No matter what happened in the future, no matter what she did, she was still the strongest in his eyes.
"Even though I suffered a lot of defeats at the hands of people?? Even though I have committed such big blunders??"
"Yes!! No matter what you do, you will always be the strongest in my eyes!!" Silk replied with conviction in his voice.
Yuna burst into laughter after hearing his reply.
"You are completely right. Your aunt was and always will be the strongest. No matter how many defeats I face, no matter what setbacks come into my life, no matter what happens, I will keep moving forward, and I will fight against the fates themselves!! So if your little old aunt can do it, why can’t you? Is one setback enough for you to give up?? Are you just going to admit defeat just like that? Stand up and fight once again. You are going to face countless defeats like that in your life. If you give up after just a small setback, don’t call me your aunt anymore. Go back home and stay there as a pretty princess."
Yuna stood up and started walking off into the distance.
"I won’t give up!!"
Hearing this, she paused in her footsteps.
"I won’t give up just like this!! I will stand up and fight once again. I will become strong once again. The strongest!!!"
A smile appeared on Yuna’s face as she started walking once more.
"Good. Remember that feeling. The Strongest is not the one who never loses a fight. The Strongest is the one who never gives up, even after losing countless fights."
"That is what it means to be truly called The Strongest."
