Doomsday: I Build a Space Fleet

Chapter 47 New Partners, Old Friends

Chapter 47 New Partners, Old Friends

"Stop daydreaming, they're almost here."

"Oh, oh." Lorraine then got up and steered the two ships closer to the west bank.

Lorraine then flew two support drones, each armed with incendiary bombs, onto the foredeck.

"Where are Platinum and the others?"

It wasn't until he had completed all these steps that Lorraine came to his senses.

"We've arrived."

Ouyang Nian pointed out the window.

Platinum stood on the shore with four mechanical dogs, waving at him.

Platinum was no longer the disheveled figure he had been when they first met; his entire body was now enveloped in matte black machinery. He held a shield as tall as a man in his left hand, a long spear in his right, a massive longbow on his back, and a short-barreled light machine gun and a long sword on his horse.

Platinum's current attire perfectly matched Lorraine's image of a centaur heavy cavalryman.

Lorraine beckoned to Platinum, "What's the matter? Come aboard and we'll talk."

Platinum placed the weapon on Roy's body, leaving him with only a long sword hanging on the side of his horse. He then took a box from Roy's body.

Platinum stepped back slightly, jogged a couple of steps, and easily jumped onto the deck, landing gracefully in front of Lorraine.

"Captain, it's been a long time."

Platinum gave an elegant salute, then stood up straight and gave Lorraine a solemn military salute.

"Commander, Pivot Squad Leader Platinum is back in position, awaiting your instructions."

Even in his confused state, Lorraine didn't forget to return the greeting.

"So what's going on here? Ouyang Nian, do you know?"

Upon hearing Ouyang Nian's laughter, Lorraine stiffly turned her head and asked.

"I already knew that. Ask Platinum for the rest."

Ouyang Nian waved his hand and carried two support drones into the warehouse with a flourish.

"Pfft"

Platinum, standing to the side, laughed out loud at Lorraine's bewildered expression.

"What exactly is going on?"

Lorraine can only seek answers from Platinum now.

"I joined you for two reasons. The first is because you saved my life; the second is because of my connection with Master Tian Shu."

"Me, commanding your regular army?"

"That's not a problem. After all, with your current authority, commanding several army groups is no problem."

Platinum gave Lorraine the simplest explanation.

"So, the permissions I currently know are just the tip of the iceberg?"

"Yes, after all, the successor assessment is not as simple as you imagine."

Lorraine wanted to ask more questions, but saw Platinum gently shake her head. Lorraine then changed the subject to their upcoming itinerary.

"We plan to enter Zone 1 and proceed to the fog-shrouded area on the edge of Zones 1 and 2. The threat in Zone 1 has been identified. I am prepared to use incendiary bombs to strike it."

Lorraine told Platinum about her plan and the location of the wolf pack, hoping she could offer some advice.

"I understand. In order to save ammunition, you plan to use incendiary bombs to kill the wolves and hinder their movement."

Lorraine nodded, looking at Platinum who was deep in thought.

"May I take a look at the incendiary bombs you are preparing to use?"

At this time, Ouyang Nian had already modified two incendiary bombs using the blueprints for installing Lorraine, as well as the mounting brackets adapted to these two incendiary bombs.

Bai Jin dismounted and followed Lorraine to the warehouse, where he saw two incendiary bombs that had been modified by Ouyang Nian, equipped with short wings and V-shaped tail fins, giving them short-distance gliding capabilities.

"If it were a close-range bombing, two incendiary bombs could be thrown into the burrow where the wolves are, but there is a risk that they will be shot down by the wolves."

"If there are no problems, let's get ready to move in. Oh, and I'll send you the channel we're currently using; we'll use this channel from now on."

Lorraine used a portable terminal to send the encrypted channel they were using to Platinum.

After waiting for a while, the members of the pivot team on the cargo ship connected to the channel one after another.

"Commander, Kheshig is online."

"Mysterious Iron is now available."

"Cat is online."

"Roy is online. Commander..."

Using the authority granted to her by Lorraine, Platinum immediately shut Roy up, preventing him from uttering any outrageous remarks.

Now everyone is in position. Lorraine starts the engine, and the ship continues downstream.

"Did Rainbow One detect any anomalies?"

Everything is normal; the wolf pack has not made any unusual movements.

The ship sailed downstream and soon arrived at its designated location.

Two drones carrying glide bombs took off and were expected to arrive at the attack starting point in three minutes.

The wolf pack was now attracted by a faint noise coming from afar.

The drawbacks of gas turbines become apparent at this moment; the sharp noise they generate when running at full power can travel a considerable distance across the wilderness.

At this moment, the two support drones had arrived at the attack starting point and, following the preset attack path, dropped two glide bombs one after the other.

One of the two incendiary bombs successfully penetrated the burrow, while the other exploded at the entrance, turning the two wolf cubs guarding the entrance into two torches.

Looking at the scene before her, Lorraine suddenly remembered something and turned to ask Platinum if they had ever seen an unusually smooth tunnel during their mission.

Upon hearing Lorraine's description, Platinum fell into deep thought before speaking.

"I saw them once or twice when I first left the special operations lab, and I also encountered zombies hiding in the tunnels. I don't know what kind of creature built the tunnels."

Lorraine lowered his head and pondered. The hidden dangers of the apocalypse were hard for him to understand. If he were to connect it with the games and movies of his previous life, all he could think of were all sorts of strange and bizarre insectoid races.

"I hope the guy drilling the hole isn't the kind of huge thing I'm imagining."

Lorraine looked up, exhaled, and then turned her attention to the misty region they were about to reach.

After traveling several kilometers, Lorraine received an identification signal.

Didi

Lorraine raised his arm and turned on the portable terminal.

[Identification signal received from Naval Research Institute 115. Send our identification code?]

The portable terminal displays the words "Yes" and "No" in large letters.

Lorraine clicked "Yes".

Shortly after, another message popped up on the terminal.

[Identification code confirmed, elevator activated. Please wait where you are.]

Accompanied by the sound of water, the ground in the distance began to rise, a plot of land 100 meters long and 50 meters wide was raised to a height of 50 meters.

The ship passage is now open.

Lorraine maneuvered the two ships, bringing them to a stop one after the other in the passageway.

[The gates have closed and are beginning to descend. Please hold on tight.]

A familiar male voice rang out, accompanied by faint mechanical sounds, and the entire passage began to descend.

After a ten-minute descent, Lorraine and her group arrived at the dock connecting to the Naval Research Institute.

"Welcome to Naval Research Institute 115. You may call me Tian Shu."
